Derek Loves Shopping!

ALEXA CHUNG x MADEWELL COAT, UO LUX BLAZER, AA BODYSUIT, VINTAGE BELT, UO SILENCE+NOISE PANTS, MARC BY MARC JACOBS CLUTCH, DOLCE VITA x TARGET BOOTS

Just got in not too long ago from the first day of my internship; if I had to sum the day up in 1 word: surreal. Wrote this piece all by myself (with a little help from my fellow interns from the office and the UK) and super proud of it. You'll be seeing more of me in the time coming up. ;]

Took a peek of the guestlist and I'm super excited... Can't wait for Fashion Week in NYC. Can you?

Totally random, but this jacket from this Asian boutique in Flushing, Queens was absolutely stunning. I saw it, and knew I had to feature it on here. From the fur collar to the military accents to the structure, it was such a beautiful jacket that had a balance of soft and hard.

Talking about it makes me pretty sad since I'm on a shopping break... Moving on.

What I'll be eating no matter what the weather:

...And if you don't know what this is and live in the Flushing, Queens area (or anywhere really, I guess) then you need to get Taiwanese Ice. Oh. And if you're getting charged anything over $4, you're getting ripped off.

Nomnomnomnomnom.

Bonus:

My photographer, my bestfriend, my boyfriend, the one I'm gonna marry, and my future, all in one. I love you Kevin Le. <3

The Very First Day of the Rest of My Life.

Landed this fashion internship (booyah!) and went in for orientation today. It was held at Derek Warburton's beautiful apartment near the rooftop with big, beautiful windows with the city skyline and so close to the sun that even on this cloudy, snowy, gross day, it looked, well, beautiful. Strange that orientation was held there, but eh, who's complaining since I was sitting on a kushy suede couch. Wish I could've taken pictures, but that would've been not creepy at all...

And did I mention it's gonna be long term? Yay! Work with steady income and work with no steady income but with a lot of social networking, future career benefits, opportunities for better things, growing up, and making things happen.

Not a lot of things have ever really worked out for me, especially in the long run, but now, after dating my boyfriend (love you!), everything has fallen into place and I feel like I really got my shit together.

Maybe this won't be my career, maybe it will, but I know that this wouldn't have happened if my boyfriend, Kevin, and my two best girlfriends, Jessica and Mary, hadn't motivated and pushed me to do it. I'm a simple girl who appreciates all the really little things, so, thank you.

VINTAGE FUR COAT, BELT, MADEWELL SCARF, BOOTS, AA PANTS, UO BAG

Am I lame that I just wrote a 'thank you' speech like I made it or something? A little? Damn. Well, it must be the PMS talking or something.

P.S. How did reminiscing turn into looking for rings? Can't wait.

C-Thru.

Under the foot of snow, I'm hopin' anda prayin' that Spring is just around the corner in... I'll give it a month, like, February-month.

So like the typical Rebecca-Bloomwood-Confessions-of-a-Shopaholic type of terrible person I am, I just purchased this:

Cheap Monday "The Frill Dress" in Midnight via PLNDR

But to justify this unnecessary purchase, it was $20. I just spoke to one of my bestfriends about it, and yes! Approval (so I feel less guilty)! I have so many ideas for this layering piece - perfect for the Spring/Summer coming up.

I love buying versatile, layering pieces that you can wear in a million different ways, it really makes me so much more excited for the piece. Especially since I bought it for $20 (can't say it enough). My big inspiration for buying this piece have had to be from bleedforfashion with this post.

Yeap. All that, was just my justification for spending $20 I probably needed for food. And I'm glad. Besides, I'm sure if I don't eat for one day, I have enough fat for my body to eat off itself. Pfft.

S/S '11... I can't wait.

And I'm not just talking about the new collections coming out, I'm talking about the actual seasons! Just got in a couple of inches of snow and later on today with some sleet and rain and all that good stuff. So no pictures for awhile, just staying home, bumming around. I need to move out to the west...

On the sunnier side of things (I wish) as I just read on nitrolicious, ALDO's S/S '11 collections are adorable, the collaboration between Hello Kitty and Sephora just dropped online and in-stores, finally! And there's been talk (or blogs) about H&M collaborating with Swedish Hasbeens (can't wait) and Elin King. They're also dropping a line called "Waste". Target's got a collaboration going on too with Calypso St. Barth.

2011 (fashion-wise) is looking really promising, especially with Spring and Summer coming up, which I'm sure with a load of other east coasters, can't wait for - weather and fashion wise (really can't get enough saying that).

P.S. For those that haven't, should really check out her blog for the latest sneak peeks, collections, newest releases, and outfit/photo inspiration.

Stay Gold.

ALEXA CHUNG X MADEWELL COAT, AA OXFORD, H&M BLAZER, UO PANTS, RL SOCKS, F21 WEDGES

Change is really scary. Just like rolling a dice or playing with a hand of cards dealt to you - you'll never know the real outcome of it and what happens because of it. It can really effect you in almost every way: physically, emotionally. It can be good or bad, or both.

In life, there'll always be a variable but as long as there's a control, things are able and can stay constant.

Today marks the day of my first internship interview with Derek Warburton of DerekLovesShopping who's hosting a lounge event sponsored by Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Wish me luck!

Tuesday, January 18

Lazy Tuesday.

AA SCARF, CAPE, UNIQLO DENIM, ZARA KNEE-HIGH'S.

It's snowing and then it's raining and then it's both. Oh, Mother Nature. You never cease to amaze me.

Ran out to run some errands, almost slipped and died on what I thought was snow, but by now was actually ice. Go me.

Now, with all of that out of the way, I'll be locking myself in my room with nothing but my laptop, cellphone and a walnut fudge brownie to keep me sane completing at least 3 cover letters and finish up re-doing my resume by the end of today. With my A.D.D... wish me luck everyone.

+ EDIT + Just found this on me on collegefashionista.com. Thanks Bonnie!

Across the Pond...

ALEXA CHUNG X MADEWELL COAT, H&M BLAZER, MADEWELL SHIRT, PANTS, AA TANK, BRA, SOCKS, BAG, STEVE MADDEN BOOTS, F21 RINGS

Over the weekend, I had the last brunch with my girl, Stephanie aka le luxe rubbish. She's leaving across the pond to London to study abroad from NYU a couple of years. Lucky bitch.

Ever since I met you, all you've been talking about is going there and now, you are! You saved up all that money and here's your chance to blow it all and when you do, at least you know it's all worth it. Be safe, have fun, I love you, and we'll miss ya.

Rise & Grind.

OLD NAVY ANORAK, AA CARDIGAN, PANTS, HELLZ BELLZ TEE, VINTAGE GUCCI, NIKE 'MISS PIGGY' BLAZERS

The weather here has been so funky: blizzard here, snow there, rain over there, and just plain freezing temperatures so naturally (lucky and unlucky for me) I've been home, curled up in fetal position in bed, under my blankets, only getting out to use the bathroom and eat.

Went out today with my boyfriend with the original plans to watch "The Fighter" and ended up staying in finishing up watching the first season of "How I Met Your Mother". I've discovered a new love for that show.

We went shopping for the other half of my long overdue Christmas present and this is what he bought:

A much needed fitted sweatpant heather grey blazer with suede elbow patches and REAL pockets. Yeah. You know what I mean. Anyway... Yum.
